We welcome you to submit your recipes to us! If you’ve used one of our products and would like to tell us how, please follow the How To and recipe guidelines below…
How to Submit your Recipes
Recipes should be sent by email in plain text. Please do not send attachments (viruses are quickly spread from email attachments.) If you would like to send it by snail mail, please see our postal address under Contact Us.
We want to give you some credit for your work! Let us know what part of your name you would like us to use if it is published – to protect you, we won’t use your full name on the World Wide Web, but we can use your initial and last name, first name only, last name only or an alias – whichever you prefer.
Recipe Guidelines
The following are some of the guidelines you can follow to make your recipe as goof proof as possible; wherever possible, please try to apply them.
- use volumetric measures whenever possible… that means, cups, tablespoons, teaspoons, etc.
- indicate the number of servings provided by the recipe, or the number of finished goods (eg. “serves four”, or “makes one dozen”)
- use common or generic names wherever possible – if it is important that a particular brand be used, please let us know (eg. “instant milk” vs “Carnation brand instant milk”)
- provide cooking temperatures, eg. medium heat, 300°C, etc.
- give clear directions, keep terms simple, and if you think it needs defining then please do so
What makes a great recipe?
We certainly love good food. And we know we’ll be getting plenty of help to make it from people like you! But there are a few extra things that we look for in a recipe at Voodoo Tuesday and this might help you a bit when sending one to us.
We love food to be relatively easy to prepare, it may be stylish, but above all it must be direct and honest. We celebrate diversity in food; we embrace the idea of a global culture, and are inspired by food that simply tastes great.
So dust off your kitchen bench, call your mother, and get cooking!
What will happen once I’ve submitted a recipe?
Once we’ve received your recipe, we’ll send out a quick email confirming that we’ve gotten our kitchen mitts on it. All recipes passing the “my, my, don’t that look delish” test will move on to be tried and tasted by us and a few of our friends!
If your recipe has gone onto our test kitchen, we may have questions. If we do, we’ll contact you by email to help us with anything that might need clarifying.
Unfortunately all these things take time, and there are many of you but only a few of us! Please be patient with us – we’ll be in touch with each and every one of you whose recipe is chosen for the website.
Remember, if we use your recipe on our website, we’ll send you a free sample of that product. If you’re one of our international customers, we’ll send you a gift certificate for the value of the product that you’ve used… that way, the next time you place an order, you can use the certificate to receive your free product (but unfortunately we can’t provide free international air shipping with our offer).
Recipes submitted become the property of Voodoo Tuesday. By agreeing to have your recipe posted on our website, you also agree to adhere to our standard Terms and Conditions.
